Operational Currency Requirement for
Actual Mission Assignment
November 2003
Before any Air Group member (Observer or Pilot) may take part in an actual Air Group Mission, they must have successfully been involved in one of the Air Group training missions. During this training, they are required to demonstrate familiarity with Air Group procedures while flying with an experienced Mission Current Pilot. If training a new pilot member is assigned as an Observer during this initial training, they are current as an Observer only.
Air Group Mission Currency requires that a member must have been involved in an Actual Air Group mission, Air Group Training Mission or participated in the countywide Advance Academy within the last 12 months. All Mission Current Pilots are considered to be current as observers as well.
Only pilots and observers who have demonstrated the above currency shall have their names appear on the active “Call Out List”.
All Air Group actual mission assignments shall be selected from the active “Call Out List”. Assignments to the yearly “Advanced Academy” shall also be restricted to the same currency requirements as an actual mission.
The above currency requirements address only members familiarity with Air Group operational procedures. They in no way preclude the pilots’ requirements in maintaining pilot proficiency under FAA regulations.
The Air Group shall make every effort to have 3 Air Group Training Missions per year. The Advanced Academy will provide another opportunity for currency for qualified members. Involvement in an actual Air Group Mission will also provide currency for an additional 12 months. This should give the membership several opportunities to maintain currency.
